“Owner Penny Bee is an expat from the Philippines who advocates for queer causes and immigrant rights. She named her cafe after Filipina revolutionary Gabriela Silang, the first woman to lead an insurgency against colonial power Spain. Penny's pulled pork adobo sandwich is amazing. The menu is small, but the vibe here is welcoming and affirming. It's a place where Oakland community spirit and queer power merge.”
